Al Fateh - Ohod 72-78 The biggest surprise of round 12 in SBL was guest Ohod's (9-3) road victory over second-best Al Fateh (8-4) 78-72 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Fateh. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The best player for the winners was American forward Jordan Washington (203-1993, college: Iona, agency: Interperformances) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds. The other American import point guard James Justice (178-1989, college: UT Southern) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Algerian forward Mohamed Harat (198-1990) who recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists and Mohammed Alsaqer added 9 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists respectively. Ohod have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Al Nassr. Al Fateh at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Al Wehda. Ohod is looking forward to face Ittihad (#7) in Jeddah in the next round where they are favorite. Al Fateh will play against Al Adalah and is hoping to win this game. This time newly promoted Al Taawoun outleveled eleventh-ranked Al Ansar 112-92. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 20-point difference suggests that Al Taawoun is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. They were well out of reach of Al Ansar shooting 72.4 percent from the field and made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Al Ansar 29-13 including a 24-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Al Taawoun especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. It was a good game for American Justin Tuoyo (208-1994, college: Chattanooga) who led his team to a victory with 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). The other American import guard Darious Clark (193-1990, college: Slippery Rock, agency: Domantay Sports) contributed with 28 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. Clark is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Al Taawoun players scored in double figures. Guard Salman Almoulad replied with 24 points and American forward Gerard Tarin (206-1996, college: Nova SE) added 24 points in the effort for Al Ansar. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Al Taawoun (2-10) moved-up to eleventh place. Al Ansar lost eleventh consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 11 games lost. Al Taawoun will play against higher ranked Deba (#8) in Tabuk in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Al Ansar will play at home against Al Salam (#9) to get more than just one victory in their record. Al Hilal dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Al Adalah's 54. They outrebounded Al Adalah 44-28 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Hilal looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international center Mohammed Alsuwailem (211-1998) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 21 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and American power forward Clinton Chapman (208-1989, college: Texas) who added 38 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds during the contest. Al Hilal's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Russian forward Andrey Semenov (200-1990, college: JMU) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and Tunisian swingman Islem Elajmi (196-1991) scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains sixth position with 8-5 record. Al Adalah lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Al Salam. Al Hilal will meet league's leader Al Ahli in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Al Adalah will play against Al Fateh (#5) and hope to secure a win. Worth to mention a quality performance of American forward Deandre Liggins (198-1988, college: Kentucky) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 8 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals and forward Ayman Belal who added 21 points during the contest. Four Al Ahli players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Anthony McClain (211-1988, college: Cincinnati) with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 15 rebounds (on 12-of-13 shooting from the field) and Rashad Shouri scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. Al Ahli (11-0) have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 11 victories in a row. Loser Al Salam keeps the ninth place with nine games lost.
